Hola everyone,
As the title of this entry says; the first step towards becoming a peanut and cheese flavoured Kiwi has been taken.
We had me, Peanut, assessed to see what our chances are of getting into New Zealand. This means that my work experience, education, career path and more have been evaluated using the official NZ guidelines on immigration by an officially recognised migration office.
The final verdict on our chances of getting into New Zealand was; fairly good. Now to some people fairly might sound a bit awckward; but to us it means that if we make sure that we comply to just a few “must haves” on the migration front, we are in .. like Flynn even.
The most important steps to take from now on are on the financial front, the official assessment of my education and a work permit/visa followed by a job offer. We have been told that the best way to get a job offer is to be in New Zealand at the time of the job search.
Understandable, although we had hoped it possible to do a long distance job interview and leave Holland with the security of having a job abroad. Alas with the dust of the economic crisis just settling most employers want to have a face to face interview.
This means we will be going to NZ without a job offer but WITH a work permit/visa and secure a job once we get there.
Also, we have decided on a date and a place of residence once we get in. If all goes well this November will see us pack what little is left of our bags and belongings and wave farewell to the cheesy, clog-filled country of Holland and say hello to Auckland city, New Zealand. We are very, very excited.
In the meantime we will be working our butts off to earn enough money to be able to stay at least three months (normal Visa) and, if possible, to extend our visit with 9 months and make sure we can get jobs and whatnot over there. Again, very exciting times ahead of us.
All of which we will share right here ^^
Until next time!
Peanut
